Ondili South Tour

Travel idea – 12 NIGHTS

The “Ondili South Tour” invites those who love travelling through Africa to get to know the south of Namibia in great detail. 13 nights, 14 days, 8 regions – this tour is the perfect choice for those who want to discover a lot in a short space of time.

The first stop on your journey is Auas Safari Lodge. It is located near the Namibian capital Windhoek, thereby enabling a quick start to your African adventure. Once here, you can take the time to find your feet while you enjoy a cool drink and watch the spectacular sunset in the Auas Mountains and the wildlife located at the nearby watering hole.

The next day, you will travel on to Kalahari Red Dunes Lodges. ou will spend the night here in a stylish ambience amidst the dunes of this fascinating desert (which can reach up to 30 metres in height). Excursions from this lodge take you on foot or in off-road vehicles through the pristine landscapes of Namibia, where you can get closer to African wildlife as well as the indigenous people of this stunning country.

The fourth and fifth day of the tour will be spent at the Fish River Lodge situated near the Fish River Canyon. The so-called “little brother” of the Grand Canyon is a true geological wonder. Here you can bathe in the hot mineral springs of Ai-Ais or observe the species-rich bird life in the depths of these ancient rock formations, before finally continuing onwards on day six of your Ondili South Tour.

At this point, Namtib Desert Lodge in the Tiras Mountains awaits you. Here, in the south-west of Namibia, at the edge of the world-famous Namib Desert, with a little luck, you can observe wild horses roaming free and explore the beauty of the local flora.

Popular activities here include game drives following the tracks of Namibian wildlife as well as exploratory tours through quiver tree forests and taking in ancient rock paintings.

During the next stage of the tour you will be staying at Desert Homestead Lodge. Its location in the picturesque Namib-Naukluft National Park is in the immediate vicinity to the Sossusvlei. This salt and clay pan is surrounded by the highest dunes in the world – known as the Namib Sand Sea. Since 2013, this part of the Namibian landscape has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site and, therefore, a real highlight of the tour.

The tour will continue after a two-day stay in this area before taking our guests to Swakopmund. Swakopmund is a coastal town bordering the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the desert on the other. It is known for its expansive avenues and colonial architecture; the multicultural lifestyle that characterises this city makes Swakopmund a fascinating urban attraction in Namibia.

But after this exciting city trip, it’s back to nature on day 11. A two-day adventure in the Erongo Mountains awaits the guests. Here you stay overnight at Hohenstein Lodge at the foot of the highest mountain in the Erongo massif and embark on exciting excursions that take you through spectacular rock landscapes, past impressive panoramic views and offer a variety of animal species to behold.

Enjoy your final two days here in the beauty of Namibian nature before you leave for Windhoek on day 13. Once there, you can conclude your holiday in Namibia’s south during a trip through the idyllic capital and start your journey home on the last day – filled with the pictures of days past and the many new experiences and impressions you will be taking home with you.
